Citizen journalists needed for Oil Spill Crisis Map

(New Orleans) As the massive Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster drifts toward land, residents of the Gulf Coast  can report sightings of fishermen out or work, endangered wildlife, oil on shore, oil sheens, health impacts and other problems using a new tool known as the Oil Spill Crisis Map.

Chevron spills 18,000 gallons of oil in national wildlife refuge: Latest in a pattern of oil industry accidents casts doubt on more offshore drilling

(Venice, LA)  Delta National Wildlife Refuge is in peril after at least 18,000 gallons of crude oil were spilled into its waters.  An area of approximately 160 square miles has been impacted by the spill - 40 square miles of marsh and 120 square miles offshore.

Student attorney's at Tulane University's Environmental Law Clinic successfully demonstrated that Murphy Oil's Meraux refinery frequently violated its air permits by exceeding emission limitations and continued to violate them after plaintiffs filed suit.
