On Monday afternoon, the New York Times published a story with a theme we’ve been telling you about for months: How Meta Got Everything it Wanted in a Secret Louisiana Data Center Deal. Our work is focused on Hyundai and Exxon and CF and the industrialization of the west bank of Ascension Parish, but the corrupt tools are the same: secrecy and massive amounts of Louisiana money given to the richest corporations on earth. 

Tuesday’s story has been meticulously reported for the last several months by Drew Hawkins at Gulf States Newsroom. We urge you to read his work. And we want to remind you that, for the last year, we have collaborated with Rural Roots Louisiana to launch a volley of public records requests, press releases, and lawsuits (thank you, Center for Constitutional Rights) to take aim directly at this assault on democracy. 

The bad news is that our Governor never saw a corporation he didn’t want to serve. The good news is that we have a legal and finance research team that is scouring these “deals” and has found what we belive to be fatal flaws. We are challenging them in every forum possible: the court of public opinion and before judges.
