Louisiana Bucket Brigade Ten-Year Report
Dear Louisiana Bucket Brigade Members and Supporters,
For the last 10 years, we have been able to support community leaders from Norco, New Sarpy, Alsen, Chalmette, Baton Rouge, Shreveport and St. John Parish with a modest annual budget and a small staff. We have accomplished great things with a median budget of $234,665 – this in the face of an industry that vastly outspends us.
Ten years and 700 media stories later, fenceline neighbors have been featured on local programs and in national outlets. This publicity matters because it helps communities win. Flaring and emissions have been reduced in every community in which we’ve mounted a campaign. Air monitors have been installed, fines have been issued, violations of the law have been documented in court and families have received compensation to move away from polluted land. We thank you for working with us for the last 10 years. Raise a toast to our fenceline partners. And let’s roll up our sleeves for another 10 years of work…
