The Louisiana Bucket Brigade is a 501(c)(3) environmental health and justice organization working with communities that neighbor the state’s oil refineries and chemical plants. We use grassroots action to create an informed, healthy society that holds the petrochemical industry and government accountable for the true costs of pollution to hasten the transition from fossil fuels. Our vision is a Louisiana that is a healthy, prosperous, pollution-free, and just state where people and the environment are valued over profit.

About The Role

The Environmental Justice Social Media and Email Program Contractor would be tasked with managing the social media accounts and email program for The Louisiana Bucket Brigade. It will be the contractor’s responsibility to coordinate with Louisiana Bucket Brigade staff to share the organization’s programming as well as environmental justice updates happening throughout Louisiana via social media and mass emails. 

The contractor will be onboarded and trained by Red Cypress Consulting. After sufficient training and onboarding, the contractor will be supervised by the Louisiana Bucket Brigade staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Louisiana Bucket Brigade’s social media accounts and email program
• Develop content about the the environmental justice fight in Louisiana and the Louisiana Bucket Brigade’s programming
• Coordinate with Louisiana Bucket Brigade staff to share updates about the organization’s programming
• Engage with the Louisiana Bucket Brigade’s audience through social media and email
• Attend events, community meetings, and visit the Louisiana Bucket Brigade offices to capture and share content
• Monitor and document Louisiana Bucket Brigade’s media mentions
• Track environmental justice news in Louisiana and the Gulf South
  

Experience

• Experience communicating about environmental justice issues
• Experience developing and managing systems for tracking organizational communications, such as a content calendar
• Familiarity with social media platforms and CRMs
• Knowledge of best practices for social media and email communications
• Ability to create eye-catching and informative graphics through tools like Canva
• Ability to work with a diverse staff 

Compensation

• The contractor will be compensated at $40 an hour, and will work an estimated 40 hours a month
