The Thanksgiving week fire at ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Refinery was not surprising. After 15 years of watching this refinery and the Exxon chemical plant, I know that Exxon reports dozens of accidents to the government, as required by law, every year. Exxon Baton Rouge has reported roughly 23 accidents to the federal government’s National Response Center so far in 2016.
